Purpose



As a key member of the Change team, the

Delivery Manager

leads Agile teams to deliver high-quality projects on time, within scope, and aligned to business priorities. This role is instrumental in driving genuine business value by enabling cross-functional collaboration and fostering a culture of agility and continuous improvement.


With a proactive and solution-oriented mindset, the Delivery Manager facilitates and directs the end-to-end delivery of innovative solutions across multiple domains. They are accountable for navigating risks and obstacles, ensuring progress aligns with company standards, and championing iterative value delivery throughout the change lifecycle.


Working closely with stakeholders across business, change, and software engineering functions, the Delivery Manager shapes priorities, supports the development of business cases, and creates actionable delivery plans. Their ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, Agile environment is critical to the success of both strategic and tactical initiatives.

Job Role Accountabilities



Delivery Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations Benefits Realisation: Partner with Sponsors and Business Product Owners to help shape and prioritise business goals, outcomes, benefits, and measures of success for all projects Scrum Master Responsibilities: Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, remove impediments, and support the team in achieving their goals Coaching and Mentoring: Guide teams, managers, sponsors, stakeholders, PMs, and Product Owners to enhance their Agile practices and take the next step on their Agile journey Facilitation: Lead teams through each lifecycle phase and iteration to continuously improve and achieve success, while supporting them through challenges Teaching Agile Practices: Educate teams and stakeholders on Agile practices, including Scrum, Kanban, Agile principles and values, ceremonies, story mapping, refinement, sizing, prioritization, release planning, and XP practices Problem Resolution: Identify and address issues that hinder team performance, taking responsibility for resolving external impediments Conflict Navigation: Help teams navigate conflict, transforming destructive conflict into constructive disagreement to boost performance Role Modelling: Demonstrate team values, build trust, and highlight areas for improvement to foster a culture of continuous improvement Servant Leadership: Shield the team from distractions, ensure transparency, and provide data to prompt leadership support Change Agent: Advocate for organizational transformation, share ideas and learning, and influence change across teams Community Engagement: Participate in and support communities of practice, bringing new ideas and energy to the practice

Project Planning - Develop, maintain, and adjust project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of digital initiatives. Delivery Focus - Shift stakeholder mindset from focusing on outputs (features, deliverables) to outcomes (customer value, business impact). Stakeholder Management - Actively engage with stakeholders to understand their needs, manage expectations, and ensure alignment with delivery goals. Risk Management - Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and blockers that may impact digital project timelines, quality, or scope. Facilitation - Skillfully facilitate meetings and workshops, read the room effectively, and ensure sessions drive clear outcomes. Active Listening & Communication - Demonstrate adaptive communication skills -- listening deeply, responding thoughtfully, and tailoring messages to diverse audiences. Change Agency - Drive and sustain change across teams and ecosystems by building support, addressing resistance, and reinforcing Agile values. Trusted Partner - Act as a reliable advisor to stakeholders, influencing decisions and creating a shared sense of ownership and delivery accountability. Lean-Agile Practitioner - Apply and integrate best practices from Lean, Agile, and Design Thinking to support fast, customer-centric digital delivery. Adaptability - Confidently guide teams at all stages of Agile maturity, adapting leadership style to meet evolving team dynamics and delivery needs. Continuous Improvement = Encourage self-organizing teams to engage in honest reflection and pursue meaningful process and behavioural improvements. Leadership - Foster a safe, inclusive environment that supports psychological safety, collaboration, and the long-term growth of individuals and teams. Self-Management - Model self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and accountability; offer and receive constructive feedback to grow personally and professionally.

Skills and Knowledge



Agile Expertise

: In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Kanban, with practical exposure to scaling frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS); Strong grasp of Agile principles, values, and lean thinking, with a passion for embedding them in delivery practices.

Facilitation & Coaching :

Skilled in facilitating Agile ceremonies including planning sessions, retrospectives, and review; Experience coaching Product Owners and Agile teams on backlog refinement, story sizing, and forecasting techniques

Leadership & Team Development

: Demonstrated servant leadership and ability to coach teams towards self-organization and high performance.; Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels

Delivery & Project Management

: Proven experience in Agile delivery management, project planning, and managing timelines, dependencies, and risks. ; Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle and associated delivery practices.

Cross-Team & Vendor Collaboration

Experience managing third-party vendors and delivery partners within a cross-functional team setup.; Adept at aligning internal and external contributors toward common digital delivery goals.

Experience



Significant experience coaching Product Owners, team members, stakeholders, and senior leaders in Agile practices, ideally within a regulated industry. Active participation in Agile communities of practice (e.g., Scrum Master or Delivery forums). Hands-on experience with multiple delivery approaches including Kanban, XP, Design Thinking, and Agile coaching frameworks. Track record of successful delivery across complex, multi-functional digital projects. Good understanding and experience of the financial services control environment and associated delivery challenges.
