Job Summary
As an experienced chef, you know that preparation is everything. And in this role you will be working with carers, nurses and residents to create nutritionally well balanced and delicious meals. You'll lead by example and set the highest standards to the team for food and hygiene standards. You'll plan with purpose - ensuring ingredients arrive on time and waste is reduced. You'll care how you create - your kitchen will be the highest quality and your staff will be highly motivated. And you'll care about communication - listening to residents needs and sharing your plan with the Home Manager and the wider team. And with hygiene as one of your highest priorities, you'll conduct basic food hygiene training for all Care Staff who are involved in the handling and delivery of great dishes.
You'll prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals as and when required. You'll understand personal preferences and dietary requirements for individual residents. You will ensure all basic hygiene standards are met and will ensure food is ordered when required and then stored appropriately.
Key responsibilities:
Report and action any known to defects to appliances, damaged equipment, and any other potential hazards. Inform Home Manager of actions taken.
Create varied seasonal menus and keeping standards high.
Create varied menus for specialised dietary needs.
Keep records of food/delivery temperatures and adhere to company policies on daily/weekly & monthly checks.
Ensure all equipment is clean, well maintained & replace when required.
Order/receive and check of all deliveries.

Skills, knowledge, and qualifications required:
General knowledge of kitchen regulations
Food/Hygiene certificate and/or City and Guilds 706 1&2 (or equivalent).

Satisfactory DBS
Ability to work on own initiative.
Willingness to train on current Food safety awareness/EHO issues
Ability to maintain high standard of meals keeping within the budget.

Salary: 15 an hour weekdays and 16 hour on weekends.
Schedule:
Weekdays and Weekends 7:30am till 6pm or similar (both short and long shifts available)
Ability to commute to work by vehicle is essential as work location will vary
