Job Description

The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our Supervision (Banking, Trust, Corporate Services and Investment) Department. Reporting to the Director, the Administrative Officer will be responsible for playing a critical part in achieving departmental objectives by supporting the Director and Deputy Directors in the management and delivery of the strategic and operational initiatives of the department.

This is a key role for the Authority and the post-holder will be responsible for but not limited to:


Drafting and preparing updates for the Department's contributions to internal reports for approval by the Director, including Enterprise Risk Management, Bermuda Monetary Authority's Board of Directors and strategic review reports Tracking the department's Key Strategic Initiatives (KSIs) and key performance indictors on behalf of the Director and Deputy Directors, including delivery of action items Managing the coordination of joint deliverables, including KSIs, reports and briefings with other departments Collaborating with other departments and other authorities to organise colleges and supervisory reviews, including managing any required updates to Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) Managing and, where appropriate, leading the drafting of legislative and regulatory updates on behalf of the Department to include project management of changes to legislation, regulations, Codes and Guidance for the BTCSI sectors in close cooperation with Legal, Policy and Corporate Affairs Attending committee meetings, internal and external stakeholder meetings, including industry meetings, on behalf of the Director and Deputy Directors as required Organising and managing departmental training in liaison with Human Resources and third parties Supporting horizon scanning for the department by researching emerging trends in relation to financial institutions' products and product features on behalf of the Director and Deputy Directors Performing other related tasks and special projects as assigned by management in accordance with competencies normally associated with this post

This position requires a proven technical and business background. Therefore, the post-holder should have:

A master's degree in business, economics, finance or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution and a professional qualification or certification (i.e. CA, CPA, CFA, FRM, ACIS, FCI or TEP) Minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience of which at least three (3) years should be at a senior level working within a regulated financial services business preferably a regulatory authority or central bank Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset Experience drafting reports and briefings for senior stakeholders Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to update senior management and stakeholders on progress and outcomes Self-starter who takes initiative and has experience in project management Familiarity with the prudential regulation of financial institutions is an asset Strong experience liaising with and managing the requirements of senior stakeholders
