Job Summary

The (NWTF) welcomes applications for the post of Administrative Coordinator to lead on administrative and communications tasks across the organisation\'s portfolio.

The NWTF is a group of 22 strategically important wind tunnels distributed across 12 universities with the aim of keeping the UK at the forefront of aerodynamic and fluid mechanics research. These facilities are available to all UK based academic and industry researchers. The NWTF is managed by academics from each university and a centralised project manager. In 2023 the NWTF was awarded a \xc2\xa323m infrastructure grant for 11 new facilities and a \xc2\xa31.1m network grant for community engagement activities.

Reporting to the NWTF Project Manager, the postholder will be responsible for event and meeting logistics, managing the NWTF\'s digital presence and coordinating multimedia production. You will also undertake creation of graphics and stories with a strong news-sense and ability to adapt scientific research for the lay audience.

You will provide day-today administrative assistance including diary management, travel arrangements and processing expenses.

As a busy and varied role, you will be proactive with excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads. You must also be able and willing to undertake a wide variety of work, so flexibility and creativity are desirable. The ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision is essential.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the mission of the NWTF nationally and globally with communications and administrative support.
  • Responsible for enhancing reach opportunities through multimedia, writing news and planning events.
  • Ownership of the NWTF website, social media presence and participation in relevant online conversation.
  • Work with individuals across each of the wind tunnels, industry partners, Management Board and the Professional Services team for the delivery of projects.
Essential requirements

The successful candidate should have A levels or equivalent qualification or be able to demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Experience of high-level administration supporting senior members of staff or academics
  • Experience with procurement/purchasing systems
  • Ability to adapt complex scientific information for the lay audience
  • Experience of using a variety of web-based tools including a CMS for web updates
  • Experienced of running multiple social media channels and content creation for target audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changing timetables or work patterns, as needed by changing circumstance
