Job Description


An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Northumberland Children and Young Peoples Service (CYPS) based at Chad House in Hexham. The post holder will be part of an admin team providing proactive, comprehensive support within the service.Northumberland CYPS consists of 5 outreach bases throughout Northumberland. The Pathways within the Service are Mental Health & Learning Disability, and Neurodevelopmental. The post holder will work closely with the Admin Team Lead, Pathway Co-ordinators, wider admin team and clinical staff on a day to day basis.The post is part time, predominantly 0900-1700hrs, but the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility in role in order to meet the needs of the service 08:00 to 20:00 which you will be required to work on a rota or as and when needed into late clinics in this base. These shifts will be planned fairly with all staff members you will work with.Main duties of the jobApplicants must have proven demonstrable experience in the last 12 months of the following:

  • Experience in working in a customer/patient focused environment (face to face and telephone)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Electronic filing systems
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft word / excel/ office packages including email.
  • Fast, accurate typing/keyboard skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be self-directed, motivated and be able to contribute positively within a team
  • Well organised and structured
  • Ability to change tasks at short notice
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Taking telephone calls and receiving visitors to the service
  • Typing reports and letter and working out out of a shared inbox
  • Taking notes to meetings
  • Updating patient information systems (training will be given)
  • Maintaining diaries
  • Arranging meetings if requested
  • Room bookings
  • Ordering supplies (training will be given)
  • Petty cash (training will be given
  • Reception duties
  • Processing and sensing prescriptions
  • Supporting the clinical team and admin colleagues under the direction of the Admin Team Lead
  • Any other adhoc duties as and when required.

  • Good general level of education to O-Level/ GCSE or equivalent in English Language

  • NVQ Level 2 in Customer Care (or equivalent)
Skills and KnowledgeEssential
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Able to input data accurately and efficiently
