A unique opportunity has arisen for an Active Travel Project Officer to work with the Active Travel Interventions Team in the Road Safety and Active Travel Group.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual that has the knowledge, understanding and passion to make active travel (walking, wheeling and cycling) more accessible for all.

Key aspects of the role will be working closely with the wider Active Travel Teams, Public Rights of Way, and other KCC internal teams to champion the development, promotion and co-ordination of active travel strategies and cycling infrastructure in Kent. You will work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders to expand, link up and promote improved safety standards across the county active travel network. You will be involved with engagement and promotion or Mi of the Active Travel England funded schemes. Key outcomes are to increase the frequency and number of people actively travelling, improve road safety, support sustainable development, tackle congestion and pollution and contribute to wider active travel and public health objectives.

You must be well organised, numerate, attentive to detail and have excellent IT skills as well as having excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You need to be flexible, adaptable, enjoy working in a team, be able to manage competing demands by careful prioritisation and switch between tasks. You also need to be able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision.

Whilst there is no requirement to drive, the successful candidate must have the ability to travel to various locations within the County of Kent and meet clients as required.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
