Job Description

Stephenson Smart Accountants are looking for a confident and capable individual to support our East Coast office in delivering exceptional quality services to our clients.

As a Qualified or Part-Qualified ACA/ACCA Accountant you will be expected to deal with one or more client assignments simultaneously, build working relationships at peer client level and gain knowledge of your clients' businesses. You will also need to demonstrate an active interest in the business world by keeping abreast of market trends and business developments and develop technical skills both on the job and through formal learning channels.

Responsibilities

Deal with one or more client assignments simultaneously and bring them to completion for review by a senior accountant or director. Effectively document work. Identify project issues as well as project progress in a timely and organised manner. Build working relationships at peer client level and gain knowledge of your clients' businesses. Demonstrate an active interest in the business world by keeping abreast of market trends and business developments. Develop technical skills both on the job and through formal learning channels. Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Working effectively and in a professional manner in the office and at client premises. Review your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevance.

Assignments/Projects

Accounts preparation for limited companies, partnerships, sole traders and charities Preparation of corporation tax returns Supporting clients in accounting and taxation issues Assisting with audit assignments Preparation of management accounts including the preparation of budgets, cashflow forecasts Bookkeeping for clients and preparation of related VAT returns Working as part of a team to carry out additional client and in-house projects as required. Assisting clients with systems development and improvements

Person Specification

Qualifications/Knowledge (Essential Criteria)

Qualified or part qualified ACA/ACCA Audit experience Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP

Qualifications/Knowledge (Desirable Criteria)

2+ years experience working within a practice. Good Standard of education (A levels or equivalent)

International candidates will be required to evidence equivalent technical knowledge /qualifications obtained in your home country

Skills (Essential Criteria)

Fluent in English and able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to manage one's own time, planning workload effectively and efficiently. Demonstrate IT user competence and capability. Practical book-keeping and data entry experience

Skills (Desirable Criteria)

Ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships. Demonstrate IT user competence and capability.
