Account Assistant

to support our finance department.

What You'll Be Doing:

You'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with the dealership's day-to-day and monthly financial operations. Key responsibilities include:

Purchase Ledger

Keeping Purchase Ledger up to date at all times to include posting purchase invoices and recording supplier payments daily Monthly supplier statement reconciliations Preparing monthly Aged Creditors reports

Sales Ledger

Keeping Sales Ledger up to date at all times Review of vehicle sales to ensure correctly recorded and accurate cost allocations Fortnightly credit control: chasing outstanding debts Preparing monthly Aged Debtors reports

Banking

Posting bank transactions (including visa receipts) daily Weekly bank reconciliations Monthly petty cash reconciliations

VAT

Quarterly rolling VAT summaries for cash flow forecasting Preparing VAT returns and reconciling with system data Filing VAT returns in a timely manner

Payroll

Preparing monthly payroll (including payslips and bank file) Dealing with payroll queries Submitting RTIs and pension returns Payroll Journals Annual update of car benefit values

Additional Finance Duties

Completing government financial surveys Providing quarterly information to accountants Reviewing nominal codes and ensuring proper cost analysis

What We're Looking For:

Experience in a finance or accounting role (automotive sector a plus) Strong Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Proactive attitude and strong problem-solving abilities Relevant qualifications (or working towards) preferred
