About the Role



We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Administrator to join our finance team. This role is key to ensuring the smooth running of our accounts function, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and excellent communication.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, supporting both the purchase and sales ledger functions, as well as assisting with reconciliations, reporting, and general administrative duties within the department.

Key Responsibilities



Processing supplier invoices and ensuring they are authorised and entered accurately into the system Preparing and processing supplier payments in line with company payment terms Managing the sales ledger, raising customer invoices, and following up on outstanding payments Performing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies Assisting with month-end and year-end processes, including journals and reporting Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records Supporting the preparation of VAT returns Liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to resolve queries Filing, archiving, and maintaining financial documentation in line with company policies Assisting with internal and external audits when required

Person Specification



Essential:

Previous experience in a similar accounts or finance role Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload Strong communication skills, both written and verbal A team player with a proactive and flexible approach

Desirable:

AAT qualification (or working towards) Experience within retail, wholesale, horticulture or manufacturing accounts Knowledge of VAT and HMRC compliance
