Position Overview



The Accountant will play a vital role in managing and supporting the accounting needs of our UK-based clients. This includes full financial reporting, tax compliance, cash flow forecasting, and proactive advisory work. You'll work directly with entrepreneurs, CFOs, and business managers, becoming a trusted financial partner.



Key Responsibilities



Accounting & Reporting

? Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS.



? Maintain general ledger and perform reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts.



? Manage fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.



? Prepare and post journal entries (including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments).



Taxation & Compliance

? Prepare and submit VAT returns, Corporation Tax computations, and PAYE filings.



? Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients as necessary.



? Ensure all financial records comply with current laws and regulations.



Advisory & Client Support

? Provide financial insight and recommendations to help clients improve profitability and cash flow.



? Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.



? Conduct onboarding for new clients, including systems setup and process design.



Process Improvement & Technology

? Recommend improvements in accounting systems, reporting tools, and internal workflows.



? Leverage cloud-based accounting platforms (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) to deliver efficient service.



Team Collaboration

? Coordinate with international team members across South Africa and London.



? Support junior team members and contribute to training and knowledge sharing.



Candidate Requirements



Essential:

? Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA); Part-qualified considered if close to completion.



? Minimum of 3 years' accounting experience, ideally within a practice environment or servicing SMEs.



? Deep understanding of UK accounting standards and tax legislation.



? Proven experience preparing full sets of accounts and statutory returns.



? Proficiency in cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).



? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.



? Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines efficiently.



Preferred:

? Experience with SaaS, logistics, e-commerce, or real estate clients.



? Familiarity with UK payroll and pension requirements.



? Exposure to multi-entity or international accounting processes.
