Access & Outreach Graduate Intern (one Year Fixed Term)

Oxford, United Kingdom

Job Description

Pembroke College is a friendly and vibrant academic community, founded in 1624 and situated off St Aldates in the heart of Oxford. We are also known for our pioneering access work, led by the Access Fellow, Dr Peter Claus, and focused predominantly on specific areas of London, the North West and North East of England.

OxNet is an Access initiative run collaboratively between participating colleges at the University of Oxford, led by Pembroke College, other Higher Education institutions across the United Kingdom, and secondary schools acting as "hubs" in London, the North West and the North East of England. It is unapologetically academic in its focus and has had significant impact in the local communities in which it has worked since 2008. OxNet\'s national network of hub schools work with link schools in their respective areas of the UK. Each hub employs a full time OxNet Coordinator, who is responsible for overseeing OxNet activities in their region. This means that the University of Oxford has a direct relationship with our partner schools, based around several years of working together and tailoring our programmes to local pupils\' interests and needs. OxNet runs a series of intensive courses, involving a mixture of Study Days, Seminar Series, Easter Conferences, Summer Schools and Twilight Talks. In addition, it works collaboratively with third sector organisations such as Thinking Black and The Orwell Foundation. For more information about OxNet, please see:

The main duties of the intern will include, but are not limited to: * Providing administrative support to the Access Fellow including minuting meetings when required, replying to letters and emails; undertaking diary management and making arrangements for meetings, including booking rooms and refreshments, managing travel plans (including transport) and expenses, undertaking preparation for briefings/meetings/invitations, and other ad-hoc duties.

  • To provide administrative & logistical support to the OxNet Officer throughout the year, including: creating online resources, collating and distributing information to relevant academics, staff and pupils as required; in addition to supporting the smooth running of all key in-person and online events
  • Working closely with the OxNet Officer to support the Communications of the OxNet programme by:
  • Sharing stories, news and results via the OxNet website and via social media platforms
  • Maintaining an independent OxNet website & other social media platform(s)
  • Maintaining an independent CredOx website & other social media platform(s)
  • Developing & maintaining a webpage & social media updates for OxNet Youth Scholars
  • Sharing news via the relevant Pembroke College internal channels
Salary \xc2\xa321,255 per annum. The College offers a generous holiday allowance, free meals on duty, and membership of the University staff pension scheme. The College also offers an Employee Assistance Programme to assist the well-being of its staff members.
