Job Description


We are looking for a TA who:

  • Has extensive experience of working with pupils with SEND with a minimum Level 2 qualification in working with children or young people
  • Has knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with speech & language difficulties.
  • Knowledge of using speech & language programmes and assessment tools for example; WellComm and First Call would be desirable.
  • Has the experience to organise and deliver personalised intervention sessions.
  • Ideally, the candidate would have experience in creating communication resources for example; social stories, visual classroom aids,
  • Has experience in de-escalation strategies and behaviour management.
  • Will support a child\xe2\x80\x99s intimate care needs by cleaning and changing them.
  • Has excellent literacy, numeracy, and communication skills at GCSE Grade 4 level or equivalent.
  • Understands how children learn to support progress.
  • Works effectively as part of a team, including communicating with outside agencies.
  • Knowledge of working in a KS1 classroom environment would be beneficial.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision and with the support of the class teacher and the school SENCo, you will be expected to:
  • To create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to children\xe2\x80\x99s learning.
  • To aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on his/her own.
  • Motivating and encouraging the pupil as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils\xe2\x80\x99 needs.
  • To give positive encouragement, feedback and praise to reinforce and sustain the pupil\xe2\x80\x99s efforts and develop self reliance and self esteem.
  • Liaising with class teacher, SENCo and other professionals about individual education plans (IEPs), contributing to the planning and delivery as appropriate.
  • Consistently and effectively implementing agreed behaviour management strategies and restorative practice.
  • To promote the acceptance and inclusion of the pupil with SEND, encouraging pupils to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner.
  • To be willing to support playground/break time supervision e.g., educational games, lunchtime support etc.
